What’s Your Core Message?

If you have a chance to tell the world your message in less than 15 seconds, what is it?

Here’s mine.

“God loves us so much, but He also hates our trespasses against Him. Yet, thanks be to God, He gave us Jesus Christ, the Savior who suffered for our sins, died on the cross, and rose from the grave. So if you want to be saved and forgiven, I offer you Jesus more than anything.”

Given a chance to present this further in simple ways, here are the core steps in understanding it in at least few minutes.

1. Become Aware of God’s Attitude Towards You.

There are good news and bad news.

The good news is that God loves us. This is best summarized in the Gospel of John. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.

The bad news is, He also hates our sin. In fact, Apostle Paul made this clear without apology. “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people.”

So consider this. There is no doubt about it. Even though God hates our sins, He still loves you and me. That love is enough to make Him send His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.

2. Believe in Jesus Christ.

The message I carry is never about religion, but a personal relationship with God. The world has millions of religions, but there is only one true Jesus Christ.

It’s not about creed, but Christ. It’s not about religion, but a person–in fact, the person.

The Gospel of John quoted above continues, “that whoever believes in him [Jesus Christ] shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Apostle Paul point it succinctly. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” As such, sin is costly, eternal life is free.

The truth is this: there are only two destinations to eternity. Eternal Life or Eternal Death. Which one do you want to go?

3. Be Saved by Grace through Faith in Christ Alone.

If you choose to be with God forever, then put your trust on the Jesus the Savior, not yourself.

Most, if not all, religions in the whole world teaches that eternal life is gained through good works. The most unique teaching of historical Christian Faith is this: salvation is by faith in Christ Jesus alone.

Apostle Paul teaches, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

I firmly believe in Apostle Paul’s statement. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

This is where I’m going to be very specific. Religion–even if you’ll collect a million of it–cannot save you. It’s not even your church membership (as most cults would tell you), denomination, baptism, or good works. Your personal efforts would not do.

What is being offered to you is to completely trust on God’s love and offer of forgiveness. For such self-sufficiency and self-effort to gain God’s favor is not the core message of historic Christianity.

What is the basis of this core message? Apostle Paul’s bold confession says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.

For that message I completely gave my life, soul, and spirit.

How about you? What’s your core message?
